The line, described as having a bohemian flare, will hit better department stores in spring 2010, and will include trendy items and lot of new fashion trends such as pixie dresses, boyfriend jacket affixed with exposed zippers and hardware details.

Experts view the move as a positive for the financially healthy retailer.This may be the most substantial licensing agreement that Steve Madden has signed to date in terms of being able to deliver a contribution to their earnings,said Jeff Van Sinderen, an analyst with B. The other nine finalists also received feedback before the judges began to deliberate.

"Lulu, Nigel says you are one of his favorite girls to look at in this room," said Tyra. "But for some reason, when the camera goes up, you exhale when you need to inhale."

The pay was about 76 roubles?–?hell, the cleaners were getting 60! The hours were regular, 9 till 6, five days a week. We were allowed to earn extra cash at other Fashion Houses, but it was tough, as the hours were getting really long.

It was quite radical?–?the propaganda went that none of it was necessary for happiness or contentment. Our job, apart from being a “human hanger”, was to educate women on style, posture and poise.

Commercial models help promote products and services through ads in the electronic media such as Television and the Internet as well as through Print Advertising. They appear in commercials/ads, on product packaging, in magazines, on billboards, etc., and help promote all kinds of products and services ranging from computer equipment to medicines, apparel, shoes and cosmetics. This is by far the largest modeling and teen modeling category.

General Requirements for Commercial Modeling:

Contrary to popular belief, many successful commercial models look like normal, everyday people. If they walked past you on the street in normal everyday clothes and with little or no makeup, you would probably not look at them twice. However, what they do possess is the ability to express an emotion, and the ability to replicate that same look time and again. For starters, you can start practicing your best looks and poses in front of a mirror. Many successful models do 15 minutes of mirror work every day. Personality, likeability (that the audience or target market can relate to), being internally happy (i.e., liking yourself - because it does show through in your images) and being able to work long hours while at the same time enjoying the process are other attributes that successful commercial models seem to possess.

Most beauties pictures on magazine covers are touched up and air-brushed on the computer for hours (called digital editing) to create the right look. If you have reasonably good features, a great photographer can make you look like a superstar! Remember, the glamorous superstars do not always look that way in real life. It is the camera, lighting, makeup and digital editing that often does the trick.

2. PROMOTIONAL MODELING (Tradeshows, Retail, Car Shows, Events, etc.):

Promotional modeling includes work at Tradeshows and Conventions, handing out Product Samples in Retail Stores, helping promote products or services at Car Shows, Boat Shows, Events, etc. What differentiates promotional models in promotional modeling from Commercial Modeling above is the fact that for Promotional Modeling you have to be there in person, because you yourself (not your photo or video) are doing the promoting.

While it may not appear as glamorous as Commercial Modeling, it can provide good income opportunities, and the jobs are usually easier to get. Creative forms of Promotional Marketing (often referred to as Buzz Marketing) and Event Marketing are gaining fast in popularity. It seems to be a high-growth area, and compensation seems to be improving too.

General Requirements for Promotional Modeling:

Promotional Modeling is about overall personality, interpersonal skills, being able to establish a quick rapport, and staying focused on the task at hand. So promotional models should have all this skills. You may meet a lot of different people, albeit each very briefly. If you thrive on meeting people and enjoy the hustle and bustle of a tradeshow environment,

Promotional Modeling is usually easier to break into than Commercial Modeling, although exceptions are always there. You ncan find some promotional models pictures in modeling sites.Even though the job is not primarily about being photographed, you will still want to look and act your best. Promotional/Event Modeling is a growing field.

3. FASHION MODELING (includes Runway, Fashion Shows, etc.):

Fashion models help launch new products and designs such as in apparel, accessories, shoes, jewelry, swimwear, beachwear, etc. The walk the runway in fashion shows. Many large fashion shows also get media coverage, and a good fashion model can get print exposure in leading fashion magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, etc. Similarly, if a fashion show is being covered by the broadcast media, there is a chance that you may appear on Television too. Many industry-specific fashion shows such as shows for apparel and swimwear can hire hundreds or thousands of models at a time. You can find some models pictures in modeling sites.

General Requirements for Fashion Modeling:

Up until a few years ago, a height of at least 5 feet 9 inches was considered pretty much a requirement for Fashion Modeling especially for the Runway (where you walk up and down a Runway, wearing clothes of a certain brand and/or designer). If you feel good about your body, can walk confidently, and look reasonably good, chances are that you can find some opportunities in Fashion Modeling. 4. INTERNET MODELING (web-sites, live webcam, etc.):

Internet modeling, whether it is for static content on web-sites or for live webcam or streaming video is a popular segment. Generally, you have to be over 18 years of age.

5. MODELING FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS, CONTENT CREATORS & STOCK PHOTO AGENCIES:

Photographers hire models all the time, either to build their own portfolios or to create content for Licensing to others and/or for Stock-Photo purposes. The PhotoShoot can be either a paid shoot (where the model gets paid either on an hourly basis or a flat fee) or TFP (trade Time for Prints), or TFCD (trade Time for CD-ROM images). In the TFP or TFCD arrangement no money changes hands. It is just a trade or swap. The photographer invests his/her time, expertise and equipment, and the model invests his/her time. Thus, they can create some content together that both parties can use to further their own professional goals, respectively. Stock Photo Agencies sometimes commission a photographer to take certain pictures that can then be sold or licensed to different companies for use in advertising and marketing materials.

As you can see, there are myriad opportunities in the modeling world. However, it is hard work. Like most other things in life, there is no guarantee of success. It depends on your looks, luck, demeanor, personality, hard work, perseverance, and a burning desire to succeed, among other things.

The only real requirements to be a promotional model are to have an attractive look and an outgoing personality.

The key here is that you are going to be interacting with people and "promoting" a product or service. Let's be clear about one thing - many models make their living from promotional modeling. If it's a bar or nightclub promotion one might guess that the outfits are usually more sexy and body revealing. If this is not your type of outfit then you are not going to be doing these promotions.

On the other hand, there are many women who are perfectly comfortable in these types of outfits and can interact with confidence and pleasantness while wearing them. Sexy outfits are not always the case, and in many trade show booth jobs model beauties will simply be wearing normal business attire.

Remember it is not an either/or situation. Yes, you will make the most money by working all the jobs offered to you, however, if you are not comfortable in the sexier outfits then simply don't do them. Just let your modeling agencies know the types of jobs you prefer, and/or only select the Craigslist or internet jobs you are comfortable with.

LG's newest phone may soon get just the promotional kick it needs, as the world's third-largest handset manufacturer said Friday that it is in talks with "G.I. Joe" action star Sienna Miller for the soon-to-debut version of its Chocolate mobile phone.

"LG is close to striking a business deal with Miller for promotion, though more time will be needed to finalize it, as some technical issues still remain," an LG spokesman said, who didn't elaborate on the ongoing talks.

The company official, however, confirmed that the Hollywood actress celebrity has been linked to LG's "strategically important consumer gadget, which will be commercialized very soon."

The remarks came after Sienna Miller had a closed meeting with LG officials and product designers Wednesday in a Seoul hotel. She was in South Korea's capital city to promote her new movie "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra."

LG has just introduced the new Chocolate. The design-focused mobile is a part of the company's strategy to use powerful, attractive phones to eventually overtake its biggest cross-town rival, Samsung Electronics, in the global mobile phone market. And Sienna Miller will be the advertisement model in LG.

Samsung is the runner-up in the industry behind Nokia. LG recently overtook Motorola of the United States to become the world's No. 3 phone maker.

Have you finished unwrapping your birthday (June 8) gifts yet? Which is best one of all?
The best gift was that dad flew into Mumbai from Los Angeles for four days and then we went together to Macau. His visit was supposed to be a surprise but in all her excitement, my manager Nisha just let it slip out. But that was very sweet of him. I got some 500 books and the most delicious home-baked carrot cake from Monika, my publicist.

At 24, how would you sum up your personality?
I was born and brought up in the film industry. I have seen dad go through a lot – I had the ringside view of his struggle and stardom. He was never aware of his super-stardom, work has been worship for him. That experience, together with my mom and sis Rhea, keeps me well-grounded. I certainly don’t have any false sense of self importance but just want to be a super model.

I am very hard-working. I am like the pit bull – I never give up on anything. Like I get claustrophobic in lifts but I made sure I rode up and down in the elevator from the 38th floor hotel room in Macau recently with a brave face. I am scared of going underwater, so I will take to deep-sea diving.

The easiest perhaps is facing the camera? Your recent photo spreads have been scintillating.
Facing the camera for films surely comes easy to me because that is such a great escape. You are playing someone else! But I hate still camera. I overcame that apprehension working with Mr Bhansali when we had hundreds of photoshoots. I also don’t look at myself in the mirror, I get self-critical and self-conscious.

We heard that you will be soon busying yourself in a workshop with your co-stars in Ayesha.
Ayesha is not a pure love story, it is about six or seven friends played by Ira Dubey, Amita , Lisa, Cyrus Sahukar, Arunoday Singh and Abhay Deol. Since the film spans over 63 days, we all have to really be friends before the film goes on floors. So if we have to work together for nearly four months we should have mutual trust too. Now that Abhay is back from New York, we can hold the workshops.

How is it working for the first time with a lady director, Rajshri Ojha?
Oh, we keep discussing back stories for every character in Ayesha. I can be annoying with all my questions to the director. I used to badger Mr Bhansali and Mr Mehra too. So Rajshri is no exception – at times she asks me when I will stop asking questions! (laughs) As for women directors , I think they make films most beautifully. I am a big Mira Nair fan because she uses space with her actors so effectively.

What’s Ayesha like? Do you identify with her?
Ayesha is the Indianised version of Jane Austen’s character, as you know already. Ayesha is a motherless girl who has taken care of the family. She wants to be in control – she likes everything to be perfect. She’s smart and perceptive. But she challenges everybody which makes her self-destructive in a way.

You have been signed up by Dharma Productions for I Hate Love Stories opposite Imran Khan. So are you prepared to get away from the traditional mould and don a bikini if “the role demands”?
Punit Malhotra is the young, earnest director of the film. It’s a young man’s sweet romantic take. This will be a lovely film for Imran and me. It is a love story, a date flick. As for wearing a bikini – well I wear it in real life and I have worn angarkhas, salwar-kameez, bandana, jeans, skirts, gunjee – whatever it takes. If the character I play is on the beach – the correct gear would have to be a bikini. (squeals away naughtily).

What kind of roles are you being offered these days?
Oh absolutely anything – my sister is going through umpteen scripts offered to me. It is flattering that most of these are strong women roles.

Having been an assistant director, when will the director in you surface?
At present, I am still evolving as an actor. But the writer in me is wanting to surface. I don’t know if I can be a good director because I am not so good at dealing with people. I would rather write screenplays.

1. Candice your one of the most successful supermodels in India what has been your secret to stay on top?
There is no secret, being a model you have to consider this profession seriously as not every one can have what it takes to be a successful model. I respect my Profession and do get that Respect from The Fashion Fraternity

2. What is your mantra in life?
Be Healthy, Honest and Happy! Think positive and i strongly believe nothing is Impossible!

3. How many beauty contests have you won all together?
i entered Gladrags Mega model and won it in 2000, i won Miss Tourism International Pageant in 2002 In Malaysia and Miss Fresh Face 2002 which I also won.

4. Why did you never compete in Famine Miss India, you could have easily went onto win Miss World or Miss Universe?
During that time there were only Famine Miss India ads Gladrags and it was quite huge, I just happened to get Gladgrags first and no doubt if i had to ,i would have also joined Famine Miss India but I have no regrets!

5. Do you have future plans of going into Bollywood?
It has never crossed my mind and its a different ball game all together and I Never say Never, you never know what life has in store for you

6. Why not go to Paris/Milan/London or New York and become an International model?
i started when i was 18 and was yet in college so its was not easy for me as im very much a family girl so the thought of being away from home was not really my cup of tea, and i anyways Travel so i guess im happy being here.

7. Why is there not many Asian models modeling internationally apart from the likes of Ujjwala Raut, Laxmi Menon?
its a choice you make and its nice to see Ujjwala and Laxmi out there, and there is alto of choices out here so i guess that’s the reason why we don’t see so many Indian models out there.

8. Who is your favourite Indian model both male and female?

The size zero model controversy has never abated since it was ignited a couple of years ago. Following the tragic death of no less than three models in recent years due to complications stemming from anorexia, talk of who precisely in the fashion industry is to blame for the new standard of female model has only come to reach new intensity. Standards are generally set by the industry as a whole, so this means glossy and fashion magazines are also responsible, even if their share of the blame is smaller.

They are also guilty of projecting an image that is different from reality, designers defend themselves by pinpointing. Moreover, in order for a change for the better to come to happen, it would require more than just a handful of players standing up for a cause and, at this point, getting designers to agree to overturn their business completely is nothing short of an utopic dream.

Models also agree that keeping afloat in the business as sizes seem to be downsizing by the day has become the real challenge of the job. I saw in the space of the 10 years that I modeled, my measurement didn’t change, but the clothes got smaller and I found it harder and harder to get into them. The measurements have changed I’d say the perfect hip size now is 10cm less that it was in the 90s. All the girls have lost on the hips. I can’t work any more I do not fit sample sizes, so I can’t work. Valentine Fillol Cordier, a former model, says for The Guardian.

Even the modeling agency are complaining that their arm is literally twisted behind their back to hire girls with protruding bones and overall skeletal frames. The problem lies at the heart of the catwalk modeling industry, which traditionally demands a girl of a very specific shape and proportion. Only about 10-12% of working models have the right look for this type of modeling, and of these 85% are either eastern European or Brazilian. Only a small percentage of them went on to have top-end catwalk careers. These girls concern me. The other 88% of models working have a thoroughly normal time without this kind of pressures. People both in the fashion industry and outside of the fashion industry have to have more realistic ideals. Nobody in this world is perfect. Who needs this kind of pressure? Sarah Doukas, chief executive of Storm Management (listing Lily Cole, Jourdan Dunn and Kate Moss as its models), shares for the same publication.

Fashion Models's Half Price Pay Cut

Fashion models are the latest to feel the pinch of the credit crunch as many are seeing their wages cut in half, Reuters reports.

‘Half price! It's half-price everywhere, in Milan, even in New York,' Anna Chyzh, who has modelled for PPQ, Ben de Lisi and couture shows, told Reuters.

Rising unemployment, shoppers cutting back and the fear of recession meant that retailers are reducing profit forecasts and marketing budgets, which of course has a knock on effect. At the Paris and Milan fashion shows last month designers hired fewer models than last year.

Premier Model Management's director Aidan Jean-Marie told Reuters that clients are now coming to them with budgets 0f £1,500 instead of the £3,000 they used to see.

Karen Diamond, director at Models 1, Agyness Deyn's agency, believes that the full impact of the crisis will hit later this year as advertising budgets and show schedules are planned far in advance. She said: "Clients will go with established models rather than giving new faces a break, and it'll be tough for new girls."

Don't feel too bad for them though, with some models commanding up to £12,000 per show, half price to them isn't exactly minimum wage!

Jennifer Hawkins' $2.3 million move

A Television Model, JENNIFER Hawkins spent the weekend packing, repacking and unpacking designer frocks after taking possession of the keys to her new $2.3 million beachside home. Five weeks after first sighting the four-storey home in Sydney's Coogee, Hawkins has moved in after the vendors pushed for a quick settlement to expedite a divorce.

Saturday was spent supervising the trucks that hauled her possessions from the nearby Clovelly apartment she's been renting since June.

Boyfriend Jake Wall lent some necessary muscle to the move but despite reports to the contrary, is not expected to move in. He remains at his own home in Newcastle, north of Sydney, a convenient drive to his Monday-to-Friday job as a builder.

Hawkins' mother Gail attended to the necessities of moving day - a vacuum for a quick clean-up and toilet paper. The home is newly renovated and one floor features only a large master bedroom, bathroom and enormous, lavishly fitted-out dressing room. The property, neatly located on a 210 sq m block, also features a private garden with a tiny pool.

This brings to five the number of homes in the Hawkins property portfolio but it's the first she's bought to live in. She owns three homes at Merewether near Newcastle, her home town, and an investment apartment at Bondi.
